New payment option at VISIONAPARTMENTS: Rents can now be paid in Bitcoin
The Swiss serviced apartment market leader has announced that it is now accepting Bitcoin as payment for rent at all VISIONAPARTMENTS locations. In addition, the company is currently exploring further possibilities to incorporate the world of crypto finance into the real estate market.
“Over the years Bitcoin has proven its validity in the marketplace as a reputable form of currency, and it continues to grow in its foundation and stability”, states Anja Graf, CEO of VISIONAPARTMENTS. “We are very happy to have teamed up with another Swiss-based company, Bitcoin Suisse, to enable our guests to pay with Bitcoin.”
“Bitcoin Suisse AG is pleased to be partnering with VISIONAPARTMENTS and welcoming them into the growing community of forward-thinking companies that have opened their businesses to accept Bitcoin payments”, says Niklas Nikolajsen, CEO of Bitcoin Suisse AG. “We strongly believe in the long-term success of decentralised finance and blockchain-based payment systems.”
Bitcoin is a digital monetary unit that is coupled to a globally decentralized payment system. Transfers are processed directly between users over the internet without the need for a central processing unit. A Bitcoin transfer is handled in transactions that work similarly to a bank transfer, just without a bank. The payer only needs to know the Bitcoin address (comparable to a bank account number) of the recipient in order to transfer a given amount. All of these transactions are recorded in a blockchain, which is a kind of public register. The market value of Bitcoin is based on supply and demand.
Adding the option to pay with a cryptocurrency is just the first step VISIONAPARTMENTS has taken within the crypto world. “Exploring the different blockchains, especially Ethereum, has shown us the numerous possibilities there are to offer new and innovative services to our clients”, explains Bastiaan Don, Group Head of Development and IT at VISIONAPARTMENTS. “Our current effort to analyse different models for creating real value for our clients and future tokenholders is a challenge, but also an exciting opportunity.”
